About me

My Introduction to Dachshunds:

Hi I'm Jo this page is a little background information on how I came to become a breeder and love these breeds so much. The highlight of my week when I was a child was going to my nan’s on a Friday after school for two reasons. One because of her amazing roast dinners, the other her menagerie of pets! Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Fish, Birds, Tortoise and 6 Dogs.  Dachshunds! My favourite of them all was a little Miniature Black & Tan Male Called Fritz.  What a  wonderful little dog he was and we became the best of friends. My Nan kept both Mini Smooth Haired and Long Haired and I loved them both.  If anything I would say the longs are a tad calmer in nature compared to the smooths and obviously their coat does require more care but both varieties are just adorable.

My first ever pure bred Dachshund that I owned was my beloved Mabel  (we had owned a Wire Haired Dachshund x JRT called Timothy previously for 17 years! ) this beautiful girl who I still miss, I bought when we lived in Spain.  She was what they call Continental size slightly larger than a Uk Mini but not a UK Standard either.  Either way she was an absolute beauty and I was totally besotted with her.  We found an equally as gorgeous Spanish husband (Percy) for her and they went onto have some beautiful Puppies together.   Whilst living in Spain we rescued a lovely little Chihuahua and I quickly realised that this was going to be my second choice of dog to keep/breed so I bought 'Violet' and she became firm friends with Mabel. The two breeds live very nicely together actually.

As the years went on I became more knowledgeable, experienced and have gained confidence with all aspects of rearing puppies and finding the perfect homes for them.  I was lucky enough to meet my soulmate, hubby and a fellow dog lover who was not only willing but excited to embark on taking the plunge and becoming Kennel Club Assured Breeders & Council Licensed.  This meant meeting a lot of criteria and checks from both organisations and answering a lot of questions including being inspected by a vet, council licensing officer and kennel club official but we were very proud to be awarded 5 Stars by our local council which is the highest level achievable.  We love being a part of the Assured Breeder Scheme as we know that it can a minefield for new owners out there searching for a new puppy. It just gives our customers some peace of mind knowing that they are buying a puppy who has had the best start in life from a good reputable breeder who is regularly inspected.
